About flanges

Flanges join valves, pipes and fittings with bolts and a gasket, so equipment can be removed for maintenance. GMC datasheets cover three types:

  • Raised face flanges, with a raised sealing face that concentrates gasket pressure.
  • Blind flanges, a solid plate that closes the end of a pipe or valve.
  • Slip-on flanges, which slide over the pipe and are welded in place.

Dimension tables give the pitch circle diameter (PCD), outside diameter, raised face diameter, thickness, bolt diameter and number of holes for each size and pressure rating.

Flanges: FAQs

What does PCD mean on a flange?
PCD is the pitch circle diameter: the diameter of the circle through the centres of the bolt holes. It must match the mating flange.
Can PN and ASME Class flanges be bolted together?
Generally not. PN (EN 1092 / BS 4504) and ASME B16.5 Class flanges have different drilling and dimensions in most sizes. Check both standards before ordering.
What is the price of a flange in Pakistan?
The price depends on the size, pressure rating, body material, end connection, quantity and any testing or documents required, so GMC quotes each enquiry individually. Send the sizes, ratings and quantities through the quote form and GMC will reply with a written quotation.

Need help choosing?
