About globe valves
In a globe valve the disc moves towards or away from a seat set across the flow path. Because the flow changes direction inside the body, a globe valve has a higher pressure drop than a gate valve, but it gives much finer control. Globe valves are widely used where flow needs to be regulated or where the valve is operated often.
Bellows-sealed globe valves
A bellows seal is a flexible metal bellows welded between the stem and the bonnet. It forms a barrier so the line fluid cannot reach the gland packing, which reduces stem leakage. Bellows-sealed valves are typically specified for steam, thermal oil and other services where stem leakage must be minimised. GMC datasheets include bellow-sealed versions in cast iron, ductile iron and carbon steel.
