About balancing valves
A balancing valve sets the flow in each branch of a hydronic heating or chilled-water system, so every circuit receives its design flow. Once set, the valve's position indicator records the setting so it can be restored after maintenance.
GMC's balancing valve datasheets list cast iron or ductile iron bodies, a PTFE disc ring and a PVC or ABS indicator. GMC's product line lists static and dynamic balancing valves.

What is the difference between static and dynamic balancing valves?
A static balancing valve is set manually to a fixed position during commissioning. A dynamic (pressure-independent) valve adjusts automatically as system pressure changes. GMC lists both in its product line.
